Local authorities in the Tetouan region have started distributing financial subsidies to homeowners affected by the forest fires, in compliance with instructions from King Mohammed VI, who called for urgent measures to be taken to reduce the impact of the fires.
Today, Saturday, financial support was distributed to 27 affected families living in the Jabal al-Habib community.
In this context, Omar Mourou, head of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, told the official news agency that the process of distributing economic aid to those affected by the fires in the north is the second stop after the first . parade in the commune of Bougdian, province of Larache, which took place yesterday, Friday, and pointed out that this support is part of the activation of the commitments of the Council of the Region to mobilize 8 million dirhams within the framework of a special agreement to finance the repair and rehabilitation of more than 180 homes, revealing that there are commissions that continue to keep pace with the reform process and guarantee the return of citizens to their homes as soon as possible.
It should be noted that the framework agreement for urgent measures, for an amount of 290 million dirhams, is divided into five axes related to supporting those affected to rehabilitate and restore their homes, mitigate the effects on livestock and beekeeping, carry out forestry, rehabilitate damaged fruit trees, and implement integrated economic development projects and create more than 1,000 additional job opportunities in the affected areas within the Urash program.
Some of the provisions of the framework agreement are discharged at the level of the Tangier-Tetouan-Alhucemas region through 3 special agreements that bring together the mandate of the region, the council of the region, the affected regions and the relevant ministerial sectors.
The second agreement contemplates the rehabilitation of some centers affected by the fires in the province of Larache and Tetuán, financed by the Ministry of Development of the National Territory, Urbanization, Housing and Politics of the Cities, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Development Rural, Water and Forests will mobilize additional financial funds under the third agreement to rehabilitate the forest area and compensate for damaged fruit trees.
The Tangier-Tetouan-Alhucemas region also signed another agreement with the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, Family and National Cooperation, and the Agency for the Recovery and Development of the Northern Provinces, to mobilize an economic endowment to help the population affected.
