Remittances from the world’s Moroccans reached record levels, exceeding 47 billion dirhams in the first half of 2022

The Exchange Office reported that remittances from Moroccans living abroad exceeded 47.04 billion dirhams in the first half of 2022, compared to 44.33 billion dirhams in the same period last year.

In its latest publication on monthly foreign exchange indicators for the month of June, the Exchange Office indicated that these transfers registered an increase of 6.1 percent (+2,710 million dirhams) compared to the same period last year.

The same source indicated that these remittances increased by more than 15.18 billion dirhams compared to their level in 2018.

In addition, these statistics recorded an increase in the trade deficit of 48.7 percent, with a growth of imports of 44.2 percent and 41.2 percent of exports.

The flow of foreign direct investment increased by 89 percent to 16,191 million dirhams at the end of last June.
