US declares ‘monkey chicken pox’ a public health emergency

Today, Thursday, the United States declared “monkey pox” a public health emergency, in a move that would free up funds and help collect data and deploy additional personnel to fight the disease.

“We are ready to take our response to the next level in responding to this virus, and we urge all Americans to take monkeypox seriously and take responsibility for helping us fight this virus,” said Secretary of Health and Services. Humans, Javier Becerra.
