The monetary performance in Morocco defined 245.5 million cash transactions, with a total amount of 200.6 billion dirhams, (about 20 thousand and 60 billion cents) during the first half of 2022.
According to a report issued by the Monetary Center, cash withdrawals through automatic windows and electronic cards in shops, and through ATMs and Cash Advance operations for cash withdrawals with Moroccan and foreign bank cards, achieved a increase of 16% in terms of the number of operations and 13.2% in terms of value for the year compared to the same period in 2021.
It also revealed that the total financial withdrawals from Moroccan cards through automatic teller windows in Morocco amounted during the first half of 2022 to some 174.9 million transactions worth 168 billion dirhams, an increase of 10.5% in terms of the number of operations and 9.4% in terms of amount compared to the same period in 2021.
He explained that Moroccan card payment transactions in e-commerce and stores involved in the cash center amounted to 61.3 million transactions, worth 21.9 billion dirhams, during the first half, an increase of 27%. in number and 18.7% in terms of quantity compared to the same period last year.
Payment with Moroccan bank cards is distributed, in volume, among the following sectors of activity: large shopping centers (24.2%), stations (10.9%), clothing (10.3%), restaurants (7.3 %), health sector (5.8%), furniture, accessories and household items (4.8%) and other sectors (36.8%).
