Bourita discusses with the Japanese Foreign Minister the background to the “TICAD” crisis in Tunisia – Hoy 24

After boycotting the Afro-Japanese Forum held in Tunis, Morocco reestablished official contact with Japan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, discussed today, Friday, via video communication, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Japan had expressed its condemnation and rejection of the Polisario leader’s participation in the eighth summit of the Forum for Japan-Africa Cooperation (TICAD). Any entity that Japan does not recognize as a sovereign state in TICAD meetings, including the Senior Officials’ Meeting and the Summit Meeting, does not affect Japan’s position on the status of that entity”.

Morocco’s decision not to participate in this summit had missed the meeting with Japanese officials and the conclusion of agreements with Japanese companies, as did several African countries that participated in the summit.
