The African Football Confederation announced the list of teams that will participate in the African Cup of Nations Algeria 2023, to be played between January 13 and February 4 next.
In a statement published on its official site on social networks “Facebook”, the “CAF” reported that the African Cup of Nations, in its seventh edition, will have the participation of 18 teams, for the first time, by decision of the presidency of the African Football Confederation.
The CAF statement also indicated that the draw for the African Cup of Nations for the locals will take place on October 1 this year in Algeria.
The North region will be represented by the teams from Algeria, host country, Morocco and Libya, while Senegal, Mali and Mauritania will represent the West region, while the “B” West region will be represented by Ivory Coast, Niger and Ghana.
Cameroon, Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will represent the central region, while the central eastern region will be represented by Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia, while the southern region will see the participation of Mozambique, Angola and Madagascar.
In the same context, Faouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, had earlier announced that Morocco would participate with its Olympic team in the African Cup of Nations for the locals, after the local team had no presence by decision. .
It should be noted that the Moroccan team is the last team to win the African Cup of Nations, which was in 2021, when they defeated Mali in the final stage with two clean goals.
