The Polisario is facing a leadership crisis about to hold its conference – today 24

The separatist Polisario Front is preparing to hold a new congress, in the midst of a leadership crisis that has been faltering for more than a year, which was evident during the crisis of its leader, Ibrahim Ghali, when he was infected with the Corona virus.

This weekend, Ghali supervised the convening of the “National Secretariat of the Polisario Front”, in an extraordinary session, in preparation for the convening of the XVI Congress of the Polisario Front.

In his opening speech, Ghali explained that the special session is presented as preparation for the XVI Congress of the Front, with the aim of “providing all the conditions and capacities to ensure its success at all levels.”

Since the return of its leader from the hospitalization trip in Spain, the separatist Front “Polisario” continues to suffer from the collapse of its “institutions” since its declaration of “war” almost two years ago, when its eastern neighbor Algeria began to directly attack control the camps, and most of the leaders were absent from “Corona” On the field, the dispute between the opposing wings reached the level of lack of coordination in the positions that the separatist front promotes at the international level, becoming the device of two heads with which he addresses the world.

An example of this crisis is what the so-called Foreign Ministry of the separatist “Polisario” Front experienced, which was not spared from the permanent conflict between the leaders, and was affected by the absence for a time of Ibrahim Ghali and some leaders who were with him. avoiding many problems to the “ministry”, since it was affected by the “war”. It was unilaterally declared, and diplomatically it failed to market it, and to attract international sympathy, which caused its cadres and diplomats to fight each other to present themselves individually, and to repudiate the failure of the most financed ministry within the Polisario Front.

The separatist “Chancery” was divided into parts, there was no longer coordination between them of any kind, and each alliance began to defend itself, market what it wanted, and announce what it wanted through the channels it wanted when it wanted, and the so-called “chancellor ” Mohamed Salem Ould Salek was left without any authority to regularize the rest of the personalities who worked under his command, incapacitated.

The foreign interests of the separatist front became two-headed, and the competition for media appearances became a prominent feature of the adoption of lost achievements, and the race to prepare and organize seminars under various names, unrelated to the alleged diplomatic coordination, and with Ibrahim Ghali. absence, the phenomenon worsened and reached unbearable limits. Abi Bushraya al-Bashir, the representative ambassador of the “Polisario” in Europe, definitively separated himself from the “Foreign Affairs Ministry” led by Ould Salek, and began to move in complete isolation from him, giving lectures and participating in the media in an informal way. individual, and even skipping to organize seminars and demonstrations without any coordination with anyone, but unless he is expected to deviate from the norm, calling himself “minister”, taking advantage of the absence of the “Polisario” leader.

It is noteworthy that since the beginning of the crisis of the leadership of the front, most of the leaders fell ill, since others who depended on them for the leadership now suffer from illnesses due to their old age, while observers indicate that what the separatist did The front is suffering a leadership crisis never before seen today, it has gone through it in its history, which threatens its separatist theses, in the face of growing international mobilization around the Moroccan proposal for autonomy, and after the US recognition of sovereignty Moroccan over the southern provinces, a recognition that changed a lot in the artificial equation of the regional conflict.
