Olive oil exports reach their peak, doubling their volume compared to last year

The volume of olive oil exports reached 13,200 tons during the first eight months of 2022, double the volume of 2021 during the same period, with a value of 456 million dirhams, which represents an increase of 47 percent , according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests.

The ministry highlights, in a statement, that “olive oil exports are performing well during 2022, mainly due to strong demand in the main international markets”, explaining that this growth trend is related to the main export markets , registering significant growth in particular in the European Union market (ie 3.2 times in size and 3.6 times in value).

In addition, olive pomace oil exports registered a notable increase during the first eight months of 2022, with a volume of 13,100 tons (x2.4) and a value of 212 million dirhams (x 3.5).

It should be noted that the national production of olives for the 2021-2022 campaign is estimated at 1.96 million tons, an increase of 21 percent compared to the previous campaign.
