The Director of the Medicines and Pharmacy Department explained that strategic stockpiling is a kind of strategic health security, since essential medicines are stored to repel any crisis related to the world medicine market.
He added that the provision of essential medicines, according to the World Health Organization, is all essential medicine that is provided to the population in hospitals or pharmacies in order to ensure treatment, and that these medicines are of high quality, effectiveness and are within arm’s reach. of citizens
Bushra Maddah revealed that, in general, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection periodically monitors the reserve stock of medicines through the National Drug Observatory. However, after Covid-19, the Ministry monitors it weekly with companies that manufacture and distribute medicines at the level of pharmacies and hospitals.
He noted that Khaled Ait Taleb, in compliance with royal instructions, issued a ministerial decision aimed at a special methodology to determine the list of essential medicines to treat citizens outside the crisis framework, in addition to establishing a mechanism to monitor this strategic stock. in public and private hospitals.
He pointed out that the ministry, in a participatory follow-up, will work to involve all actors in the public and private sectors to download this ministerial decision, and its main objective is to reduce the suffering of citizens who face difficulties in obtaining medicines, for what they are forced to buy outside of Morocco, because it is not available on the Moroccan market.
