Mohamed Seddiqi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, said his ministry has taken a series of measures to provide good conditions for the start of the 2022-2023 agricultural season.
He explained in a presentation before the Government Council, this Friday, that for seeds 1.1 million quintals of selected seeds of the three main grains (common wheat, durum wheat and barley) were mobilized. It will also supply all the needs for beet seeds, some 70,000 units of monoplanted seeds.
In addition, work has been done to supply the market with some 500 thousand tons of phosphate fertilizers (deep fertilizers), maintaining the same price levels registered during the previous campaign. In addition, the expansion of the insured areas has been programmed by some 200,000 hectares, in compliance with the requirements of the Green Generation Strategy, which aims to reach 2.5 million hectares of insured areas by 2030.
Thus, according to the minister, in this campaign 1.2 million hectares of cereals, legumes and oilseeds, and 50,000 hectares of fruit trees will be secured.
