Ebullition in the Hassan II Institute of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine for the dismissal of a professor from the Department of Rural Engineering

The local branch of the Hassan II Institute of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the Moroccan Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research criticized the decision to fire a professor from the Department of Rural Engineering, threatening to reveal the truth about what is happening in the department.

A statement in this regard indicated that on Thursday, September 22, a meeting of the Department of Rural Engineering was held, after a break of more than a year, in the absence of its most important members who requested the postponement of the meeting for reasons related to missions outside of Morocco or the environment of the strike.
The agenda included several items, including the file on Mrs. Abla El Kettani, who works in the same department. During the meeting, the head of the department presented a strange proposal aimed at “separating colleague Kettani” from the rural engineering department. After deliberation, the proposal was approved by five votes, with one abstention.
The local affiliate noted that as soon as he was appointed, the current director brought in and installed the current head of the rural engineering department, who distinguished himself by his “long absences from the institute and his long-term residence in Canada” in flagrant violation of the civil service law (spent a total of 59 days outside of Morocco in the 2021-2022 academic year) and the local branch undertook to disclose the months spent abroad annually.

After that, the administration embarked on the series “Revenge and Adjustment of Accounts that do not honor a future institution such as the Agricultural Institute.”

The administration also eliminated and discarded the best competitions in the department (according to student testimony), as Ms. Al-Maknasi and Mr. Bagash were expelled without notice.
The union said that most of the elements of this section were mobilized with the purpose of restricting and expelling all those who supported the former director.

The office considered that the decision to fire a colleague or colleague by their colleagues is not the responsibility of the departmental councils, denouncing these practices that turned the Agricultural Institute into a scene of conflicts and moral settlements.
