Morocco plays a fundamental role in the stability of the Mediterranean region – today 24

Italy is still pending to differentiate between the signing of an agreement to increase gas supply with Algeria and its relationship with Morocco, after the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, affirmed that Morocco is a strategic partner and main interlocutor of Italy in the region.

The new Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who has not yet completed his first week in office, praised the fundamental role that the Kingdom has played in stabilizing the Mediterranean space.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation affirmed today, Friday, in a tweet on Twitter that Tajani praised, during a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, “the fundamental role played by Morocco in the stability of the Mediterranean region, especially in the fight against terrorism.

On the other hand, and immediately after his contact with Bourita, Tajani made a call with the Algerian foreign minister, Ramtane Lamamra, in which the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “the commitment to strengthen the bilateral partnership between Italy and Algeria, especially in the energy sector”, and to “work for stability and security in the Mediterranean Sea region”.

Tajani, a former president of the European Parliament and a member of the ruling coalition party Forza Italia, was appointed last Friday to head Italian diplomacy.

In November 2019, Morocco and Italy signed a multidimensional strategic partnership declaration aimed at establishing a deep and sustainable dialogue at the level of all sectors of common interest, deepening dialogue and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and international crime, as well as in the judicial sphere, and to strengthen cooperation in the Rome and Rabat migratory file, on many occasions, on the quality of the relations that unite them and the common will to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields and give a new dynamism to exchanges.

Italy recently turned to Algeria to resolve its gas crisis stemming from the Russian war in Ukraine, but has been sending reassuring signals about continuing its partnership with Morocco, and this is the approach taken by the former Italian foreign minister. Affairs Luigi Di Maio, and the new minister, Antonio Tajani, showed her commitment to her.
