Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch confirmed today, Thursday, that the Finance Bill 2023 included financial provisions to bear enrollment charges for compulsory health cover, for people unable to meet underwriting duties.
This occurred during Akhannouch’s presidency of the meeting of the steering committee for the implementation of social protection workshops, in the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Abdel Wafi Laftit, the Secretary General of the Government, Mohamed Hajjawi, the Minister of Health and Social Protection , Khaled Ait Taleb, and the Delegate Minister of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Fawzi Lakjaa, and the meeting was also highlighted by the presence of the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Hassan Boubrik
The meeting was dedicated to learning about the latest provisions for the generalization of health coverage, as of December 1, 2022, and the procedures related to the benefit of the rest of the groups in this workshop, with full respect for the calendar previously set by the King.
He also referred to the advances in the digitalization program of the health sector so that it can keep up with these workshops, in addition to highlighting the advances in the preparation of the unified social registry.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled the royal instructions related to the generalization of health coverage by the end of 2022 and explained that the implementation of this important royal workshop is one of the basic and important pillars for building the social state, that the government program seeks to establish.
The Head of Government added that holding workshops to generalize health coverage in this difficult circumstance and within the established deadlines is an essential step to enhance the social protection of Moroccans.
